"The whole worship of ancient Israel was a promise, in figures and symbols, of Christ; and it was not merely a promise, but an actual provision, designed by God to aid millions of people by lifting their thoughts to Him who was to manifest Himself to our world." – Testimonies to Ministers, page 123:4.
NOTE --- "During his stay in the mount, Moses received directions for the building of a sanctuary in which the divine presence would be specially manifested. 'Let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them, was the command of God .... Henceforth the people were to be honored with the abiding presence of their King. 'I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God,' 'and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory,' was the assurance given to Moses. "God commanded Moses for Israel, 'Let them make Me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them' (Ex. 25:8), and He abode in the sanctuary, in the midst of His people. Through all their weary wandering in the desert, the symbol of His presence was with them. So Christ set up His tabernacle in the midst of our human encampment. He pitched His tent by the side of the tents of men, that He might dwell among us, and make us familiar with His divine character and life. 'The Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us (and we beheld His glory, glory as of the Only Begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth." – The Desire of Ages, pages 23, 24. NOTE --- "In the building of the sanctuary as a dwelling place for God, Moses was directed to make all things according to the pattern of things in the heavens. God called him into the mount, and revealed to him the heavenly things, and in their similitude the tabernacle, with all that pertained to it, was fashioned. So to Israel, whom He desired to make His dwelling place, He revealed His glorious ideal of character. The pattern was shown them in the mount when the law was given from Sinai and when God passed by before Moses and proclaimed, 'The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth.'" – Education, page 35:1, 2.
NOTE --- "The tabernacle was so constructed that it could be taken apart and borne with the Israelites in all their journeyings. It was therefore small, being not more than fifty-five feet in length, and eighteen in breadth and height. Yet it was a magnificent structure. The wood employed for the building and its furniture was that of the acacia tree, which was less subject to decay than any other to be obtained at Sinai. The walls consisted of upright boards, set in silver sockets, and held firm by pillars and connecting bars; and all were overlaid with gold, giving to the building the appearance of solid gold. The roof was formed of four sets of curtains, the innermost of 'fine-twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubim of cunning work;' the other three respectively were of goats' hair, rams' skins dyed red, and seal skins, so arranged as to afford complete protection." – Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 347:1.
NOTE --- "The sacred tent was enclosed in an open space called the court, which was surrounded by hangings, or screens, of fine linen, suspended from pillars of brass. The entrance to this enclosure was at the eastern end. It was closed by curtains of costly material and beautiful workmanship, though inferior to those of the sanctuary. The hangings of the court being only about
half as high as the wall of the tabernacle, the building could be plainly seen by the people without." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 347:3.
NOTE --- "The building was divided into two apartments by a rich and beautiful curtain, or veil, suspended from gold-plated pillars; and a similar veil closed the entrance of the first apartment. These, like the inner covering, which formed the ceiling, were of the most gorgeous colors, blue, purple, and scarlet, beautifully arranged, while inwrought with threads of gold and silver were cherubim to represent the angelic host who are connected with the work of the heavenly sanctuary and who are ministering spirits to the people of God on earth." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 347:2.
NOTE --- "In the court, and nearest the entrance, stood the brazen altar of burnt-offering. Upon this altar were consumed all the sacrifices made by fire unto the Lord, and its horns were sprinkled with the atoning blood. Between the altar and the door of the tabernacle was the laver, which was also of brass, made from the mirrors that had been the free-will offering of the women of Israel. At the laver the priests were to wash their hands and their feet whenever they went into the sacred apartments, or approached the altar to offer a burnt-offering unto the Lord." – Patriarchs and Prophets, pages 347, 348.
"Moses at the burning bush was directed to put off his sandals, for the ground whereon he stood was holy. So the priests were not to enter the sanctuary with shoes upon their feet. Particles of dust cleaving to them would desecrate the holy place. They were to leave their shoes in the court before entering the sanctuary, and also to wash both their hands and their feet before ministering in the tabernacle or at the altar of burnt offering. Thus was constantly taught the lesson that all defilement must be put away from those who would approach into the presence of God." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 350:2.
NOTE --- "The table of show-bread stood on the north. With its ornamental crown, it was overlaid with pure gold . . . . On the south was the seven-branched candlestick, with its seven lamps. Its branches were ornamented with exquisitely wrought flowers, resembling lilies, and the whole was made from one solid piece of gold . . . . Just before the veil separating the holy place from
the most holy and the immediate presence of God, stood the golden altar of incense." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 348:1.
NOTE --- "The show-bread was kept ever before the Lord as a perpetual offering. Thus it was a part of the daily sacrifice. It was called show-bread, or 'bread of the presence,' because it was ever before the face of the Lord. It was an acknowledgment of man's dependence upon God for both temporal and spiritual food, and that it is received only through the mediation of Christ. God had fed Israel in the wilderness with bread from heaven, and they were still dependent upon his bounty, both for temporal food and spiritual blessings. Both the manna and the show-bread pointed to Christ, the living bread, who is ever in the presence of God for us. He himself said, 'I am the living bread which came down from heaven. ' Frankincense was placed upon the loaves. When the bread was removed every Sabbath, to be replaced by fresh loaves, the frankincense was burned upon the altar as a memorial before God." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 354:1.
"On this table the priests were each Sabbath to place twelve cakes, arranged in two piles, and sprinkled with frankincense. The loaves that were removed, being accounted holy, were to be eaten by the priests." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 348:1.
"There being no windows in the tabernacle, the lamps were never all extinguished at one time, but shed their light by day and by night." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 348:1.
"When the priest offered incense before the Lord, he looked toward the ark; and as the cloud of incense arose, the divine glory descended upon the mercy seat and filled the most holy place, and often so filled both apartments that the priest was obliged to retire to the door of the tabernacle. As in that typical service the priest looked by faith to the mercy seat which he could not see, so the people of God are now to direct their prayers to Christ, their great High Priest, who, unseen by human vision, is pleading in their behalf in the sanctuary above. The incense, ascending with the prayers of Israel, represents the merits and intercession of Christ, His perfect righteousness, which through faith is imputed to His people, and which can alone make the worship of sinful beings acceptable to God. Before the veil of the most holy place was an altar of perpetual intercession." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 353:1, 2.
NOTE --- "Beyond the inner veil was the holy of holies, where centered the symbolic service of atonement and intercession, and which formed the connecting link between heaven and earth. In this apartment was the ark, a chest of acacia wood, overlaid within and without with gold, and having a crown of gold about the top. It was made as a depository for the tables of stone, upon which God himself had inscribed the Ten Commandments. Hence it was called the ark of God's testament, or the ark of the covenant, since the Ten commandments were the basis of the covenant made between God and Israel. . . . . The law of God, enshrined within the ark, was the great rule of righteousness and judgment. That law pronounced death upon the transgressor; but above the law was the mercy seat, upon which the presence of God was revealed, and from which, by virtue of the atonement, pardon was granted to the sinner." – Patriarchs and Prophets, pages 348, 349.
NOTE --- "Above the mercy seat was the Shekinah, the manifestation of the divine presence; and from between the cherubim, God made known his will. Divine messages were sometimes communicated to the high priest by a voice from the cloud. Sometimes a light fell upon the angel at the right, to signify approval or acceptance, or a shadow or cloud rested upon the one at the left to reveal disapproval or rejection." – Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 349:1.
"At the right and left of the breastplate (worn by the high priest) were two large stones of great brilliancy. These were known as the Urim and Thummim. By them the will of God was made known through the high priest. When questions were brought for decision before the Lord, a halo of light encircling the precious stone at the right was a token of the divine consent or approval, while a cloud shadowing the stone at the left was an evidence of denial or disapprobation." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 351:2.
It is a part of God's plan to grant us, in answer to the prayer of faith, that which He would not bestow did we not thus ask. – The Great Controversy, p. 525.
THE SABBATHS OF THE LORD
"Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, concerning the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts." – Leviticus 23:2.
"While leading the Hebrew host from bondage to freedom, the Lord was firmly establishing them in the truth of all things, including the truth of the day on which the year begins, of the day on which the month begins, and of the day on which the week begins. Obviously, the Hebrew religion had largely to do with the days of the week, of the month, and of the year. The Hebrews were forever to keep holy, (1) not a seventh, but the seventh, day of each week, the Sabbath; (2) the days from the fifteenth to the twenty-first day of the first month, the Passover week; (3) the fiftieth day after the sheaf of the first fruits was offered, the Pentecost; (4) the tenth day of the seventh month, the Atonement; (5) the days from the fifteenth to the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the Feast of Tabernacles; and (6) the feasts of the new moons. Thus the All-knowing One, He who created the heavenly bodies and knows the very moment He set them in motion to govern the day, the month, and the year, decreed that the holy feasts be observed in the very month and on the very day on which they were first ordained." – The Answerer, Book No. 3, pages 9,10.
NOTE --- "The word translated 'feast' in this chapter is from one or the other of two Hebrew words (1) Mo'ed, an appointed meeting. . . "The GREAT QUESTION of dispute between the church of Asia Minor and the rest of Christendom was whether the pascal communion should be celebrated on the FOURTEENTH OF NISAN or on the Sunday... The Christians of Asia Minor, appealing to the example of the APOSTLES, John and Philip, and to the UNIFORM PRACTICE of the Church, celebrated the CHRISTIAN PASSOVER ALWAYS on the FOURTEENTH OF NISAN, whatever day of the week that might be... The ROMAN CHURCH, on the OTHER HAND, FOLLOWED BY ALL THE REST OF CHRISTENDOM, celebrated. . . on Friday, and.. NOTE --- "The Passover was followed by the seven days' Feast of Unleavened Bread. The first and the seventh day were days of holy convocation, when no servile work was to be performed. On the second day of the feast, the firstfruits of the year's harvest were presented before God. Barley was the earliest grain in Palestine, and at the opening of the feast it was beginning to ripen. A sheaf of this grain was waved by the priest before the altar of God, as an acknowledgment that all was His. NOTE --- "Fifty days from the offering of the firstfruits, came the Pentecost, called also the Feast of Harvest and the Feast of Weeks. As an expression of gratitude for the grain prepared as food, two loaves baked with

NOTE --- ". . . since the wave-sheaf of grain pointed forward to the ingathering of the first fruits of the field, just so those who arose with Christ, being first fruits of the dead, pointed forward to the ingathering of the gospel's first fruits – the 120 disciples. . , . Just as Christ arose on the very day the sheaf was to be offered, likewise the Holy Spirit fell upon the 120 disciples on the very day the wave-loaves were to be presented before the Lord. NOTE --- "The Feast of Tabernacles was not only commemorative, but typical. It not only pointed back to the wilderness sojourn, but, as the feast of harvest, it celebrated the ingathering of the fruits of the earth, and pointed forward to the great day of final ingathering, when the Lord of the harvest shall send forth his reapers to gather the tares together in bundles for the fire, and to gather the wheat into his garner." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 541:2.
"As the wave-sheaf and the wave-loaves are typical, then also the Feast of Tabernacles must be typical. Otherwise the ceremony would not have been observed as a part of the harvest rite. And as in the type the feast was to be celebrated at the close of the final ingathering of the year's harvest, then correspondingly in the antitype it must be celebrated at the close of the final ingathering of earth's harvest, which is nearing its fulfillment." – The Judgment and the Harvest, Tract No. 3, page 81.

There is a wide field for the elders and the helpers in every [local] church. They are to feed the flock of God with pure provender, thoroughly winnowed from the chaff, the poisonous mixture of error. You who have any part to act in the church of God, be sure that you act wisely in feeding the flock of God; for its prosperity much depends upon the quality of this food. – The S.D.A. THE DAY OF ATONEMENT
"For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord." – Leviticus 16:30.
"In the sanctuary construction and service, is revealed the plan of salvation. The first apartment, called the holy place, in which the high priest officiated daily with sacrifices and divers manners of gifts and washings, was a place for confession of sin. All of which was a shadow of heavenly things, clearly revealing the plan of salvation. The second apartment, within the veil, called the 'most holy,' or the 'holiest of all,' was open only in the seventh month, and tenth day of the month, in each year; there redemption from the condemnation of the law was assured .... It was called the day of atonement, judgment, or cleansing of the Sanctuary .... The seat overshadowed by the cherubims being called the mercy seat, proves that it is a throne of mercy, and therefore a throne of judgment, where sinners can obtain mercy." – The Shepherd's Rod, Vol. 2, page 187:2.
NOTE --- "Once a year, on the great day of atonement, the priest entered the most holy place for the cleansing of the sanctuary. The work there performed completed the yearly round of ministration." – The Great Controversy, page 419:1.
NOTE --- "No mortal eye but that of the high priest was to look upon the inner apartment of the sanctuary. Only once a year could the priest enter there, and that after the most careful and solemn preparation. NOTE --- "In the sin-offerings presented during the year, a substitute had been accepted in the sinner's stead; but the blood of the victim had not made full atonement for the sin. It had only provided a means by which the sin was transferred to the sanctuary. By the offering of blood, the sinner acknowledged the authority of the law, confessed the guilt of his transgression, and expressed his faith in Him who was to take away the sin of the world; but he was not entirely released from the condemnation of the law." – Patriarchs and Prophets, pages 355, 356.
NOTE --- "Every man was to afflict his soul while the work of atonement was going forward. All business was laid aside, and the whole congregation of Israel spent the day in solemn humiliation before God, with prayer, fasting, and deep searching of heart." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 355:4.
NOTE --- "The cleansing, both in the typical and in the real service, must be accomplished with blood: in the former, with the blood of animals; in the latter, with the blood of Christ. Paul states, as the reason why this cleansing must be performed with blood, that without shedding of blood is no remission. NOTE --- "Then in his character of mediator the priest took the sins upon himself, and leaving the sanctuary, he bore with him the burden of Israel's guilt. At the door of the tabernacle he laid his hands upon the head of the scape-goat, and confessed over him 'all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat.' And as the goat bearing these sins was sent away, they were with him regarded as forever separated from the people." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 356.
NOTE --- "As in the final atonement the sins of the truly penitent are to be blotted from the records of heaven, no more to be remembered or come into mind, so in the type they were borne away into the wilderness, forever separated from the congregation." – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 358:1.
Remember that you cannot read hearts. You do not know the motives which prompted the actions that to you look wrong. There are many who have not received a right education; their characters are warped, they are hard and gnarled, and seem to be crooked in every way. But the grace of Christ can transform them. Never cast them aside, never drive them to discouragement or despair. – The Ministry of Healing, p. 494.
OUR SACRIFICE, THE MESSIAH
"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." – John 1:29.
"When at the baptism of Jesus, John pointed to Him as the Lamb of God, a new light was shed upon the Messiah's work. The prophet's mind was directed to the words of Isaiah, 'He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter.' Isaiah 53:7. During the weeks that followed, John with new interest studied the prophecies and the teaching of the sacrificial service. He did not distinguish clearly the two phases of Christ's work, – as a suffering sacrifice and a conquering king, – but he saw that His coming had a deeper significance than priests or people had discerned." – The Desire of Ages, pages 136,137.
NOTE --- "John had been deeply moved as he saw Jesus bowed as a suppliant, pleading with tears for the approval of the Father. As the glory of God encircled Him, and the voice from heaven was heard, John recognized the token which God had promised. He knew that it was the world's Redeemer whom he had baptized. The Holy Spirit rested upon him, and with out-stretched hand pointing to Jesus, he cried, 'Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.' NOTE --- "Beginning at Moses, the very Alpha of Bible history, Christ expounded in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. Had He first made Himself known to them, their hearts would have been satisfied. In the fullness of their joy they would have hungered for nothing more. But it was necessary for them to understand the witness borne to Him by the types and prophecies of the Old Testament. Upon these their faith must be established. Christ performed no miracle to convince them, but it was His first work to explain the Scriptures. They had looked upon His death as the destruction of all their hopes. It is the light from the prophetic past that brings out the life of Christ and the teachings of the New Testament with clearness and beauty. The miracles of Christ are a proof of His divinity; but a stronger proof that He is the world's Redeemer is found in comparing the prophecies of the Old Testament with the history of the New." – The Desire of Ages, pages 796-799.
NOTE --- "The Saviour is presented before John under the symbols of the 'lion of the tribe of Judah,' and of a 'Lamb as it had been slain.' These symbols represent the union of omnipotent power and self-sacrificing love. ANSWER --- "We find that Jesus fulfilled the ceremonial law when He was offered as the wavesheaf on the cross on earth on the second day of the Passover week. (P.P. 539). After His resurrection on Sunday morning, He continued to fulfill the ceremonial law when He offered the wavesheaf in the courts above. D.A. 785-786. '. . . on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.' Lev. 23:11. If the ceremonial law was abolished on the cross, how was it that Jesus offered the wave sheaf in heaven two days after the cross." – God's Covenant, page 3.

THE TRANSITION FROM
"For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us." – Hebrews 9:24.
"When the loud cry, 'It is finished,' came from the lips of Christ, the priests were officiating in the temple. It was the hour of the evening sacrifice. The lamb representing Christ had been brought to be slain. Clothed in his significant and beautiful dress, the priest stood with lifted knife, as did Abraham when he was about to slay his son. With intense interest the people were looking on. But the earth trembles and quakes; for the Lord Himself draws near. With a rending noise the inner veil of the temple is torn from top to bottom by an unseen hand, throwing open to the gaze of the multitude a place once filled with the presence of God. In this place the Shekinah had dwelt. Here God had manifested His glory above the mercy seat. No one but the high priest ever lifted the veil separating this apartment from the rest of the temple. He entered in once a year to make an atonement for the sins of the people. But, lo, this veil is rent in twain. The most holy place of the earthly sanctuary is no longer sacred. All is terror and confusion. The priest is about to slay the victim; but the knife drops from his nerveless hand, and the lamb escapes." – The Desire of Ages, pages 756,757.
NOTE --- "The second temple was not honored with the cloud of Jehovah's glory, but with the living presence of One in whom dwelt the fullness of the Godhead bodily .... In the presence of Christ, and in this only, did the second temple exceed the first in glory. But Israel had put from her the proffered Gift of heaven. With the humble Teacher who had that day passed out from its golden gate, the glory had forever departed from the temple." – The Great Controversy, page 24:2.
NOTE --- "The darkness was again lifted from Calvary, and hung like a pall over Jerusalem. At the moment in which Christ died, there were priests ministering in the temple before the veil which separated the holy from the most holy place. The holy place was for the confession of sin, but the most holy for blotting out sin. While the services in the earthly sanctuary were in operation, there could have been no services in the heavenly until after Christ ascended and became our High Priest .... Therefore, when the services in the heavenly began, the services in the earthly ceased." – The Shepherd's Rod, Vol. 2, page 187:2, 3.
NOTE --- "Type has met antitype in the death of God's Son. The great sacrifice has been made. The way into the holiest is laid open. A new and living way is prepared for all. THE PRIESTHOOD OF THE MESSIAH
"Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." – Hebrews 7:25.
"Jehovah did not deem the plan of salvation complete while invested only with His love. He has placed at His altar an Advocate clothed in our nature. As our Intercessor, Christ's office work is to introduce us to God as His sons and daughters. He intercedes in behalf of those who receive Him. With His own blood He has paid their ransom. By virtue of His merits He gives them power to become members of the royal family, children of the heavenly King. And the Father demonstrates His infinite love for Christ by receiving and welcoming Christ's friends as His friends. He is satisfied with the atonement made. He is glorified by the incarnation, the life, death, and mediation of His Son. In Christ's name our petitions ascend to the Father. He intercedes in our behalf, and the Father lays open all the treasures of His grace for our appropriation .... Christ is the connecting link between God and man. He has promised His personal intercession. He places the whole virtue of His righteousness on the side of the suppliant. He pleads for man, and man, in need of divine help, pleads for himself in the presence of God, using the influence of the One who gave His life for the life of the world. As we acknowledge before God our appreciation for Christ's merits, fragrance is given to our intercessions. As we approach God through the virtue of the Redeemer's merits, Christ places us close by His side, encircling us with His human arm, while with His divine arm He grasps the throne of the Infinite." – Testimonies, Vol. 8, pages 177,178.

NOTE --- "We know the ceremonial law was instituted long before Sinai, since Abel offered the sacrificial lamb shortly after Adam's fall. The law was prepared in the beginning and waiting; hence the sacrificial phase of it went into effect as soon as sin entered. This phase of the ceremonial law was nailed to the cross when the 'lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.' John 1:29, gave His life on Calvary. However, the ceremonial law was not abolished as we will see; but rather only the part that was against us was taken out of the way and changed to another system and phase. See
Col. 2:14; Heb. 9:10. 'For the priest-hood being changed, there is made of a necessity a change also of the law.' Heb. 7:12. . . . Today the entire church is to be consecrated as priests by fulfilling the rite of footwashing, the symbol of cleansing." – God's Covenant, page 3.

Between the laws of men and the precepts of Jehovah will come the last great conflict of the controversy between truth and error. THE CLEANSING OF THE HEAVENLY SANCTUARY
"And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed." – Daniel 8:14.
"To William Miller and his collaborators it was given to preach the warning in America .... The testimony of the prophecies which seemed to point to the coming of Christ in... 1844 took deep hold of the minds of the people. As the message went from state to state, there was everywhere awakened widespread interest. Many were convinced that the arguments from the prophetic periods were correct, and, sacrificing their pride of opinion, they joyfully received the truth. Some ministers laid aside their sectarian views and feelings, left their salaries and their churches, and united in proclaiming the coming of Jesus. There were comparatively few ministers, however, who would accept this message; therefore it was largely committed to humble laymen .... Though opposed by Satan, the work went steadily forward, and the advent truth was accepted by many thousands." – The Great Controversy, page 368:1,2.
NOTE --- "To William Miller and his collaborators it was given to preach the warning in America. This country became the center of the great advent movement. It was here that the prophecy of the first angel's message had its most direct fulfillment." – The Great Controversy, page 368:1.
NOTE --- "The angel had been sent to Daniel for the express purpose of explaining to him the point which he had failed to understand in the vision of the eighth chapter, the statement relative to time – 'unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.'" – The Great Controversy, page 326:2.

But from what are they cut off? "From Daniel 7 it was seen that the throne of judgment or of cleansing was not to be set up until sometime after the little-horn power came into existence, . . . From. . , Daniel 8:11,12, and Daniel 11:31, the reader will observe that both scriptures are speaking of the same power. And Christ, predicting the signs of the end of the world (Matt 24:15, 16). . . place(s) the work of this power in the future from His time . . . . "After the destruction of the temple, the whole city soon fell into the hands of the Romans. The leaders of the Jews forsook their impregnable towers, and Titus found them solitary. He gazed upon them with amazement, and declared that God had given them into his hands; for no engines, however powerful, could have prevailed against those stupendous battlements. NOTE --- "That which led to this movement was the discovery that the decree of Artaxerxes for the restoration of Jerusalem, which formed the starting point for the period of the 2300 days, went into effect in the autumn of the year 457 B.C., and not at the beginning of the year, as had been formerly believed. Reckoning from the autumn of 457, the 2300 years terminate in the autumn of 1844. Arguments drawn from the Old Testament types also pointed to the autumn as the time when the event represented by the 'cleansing of the sanctuary' must take place. NOTE --- "The question, What is the sanctuary? is clearly answered in the Scriptures. The term 'sanctuary,' as used in the Bible, refers, first, to the tabernacle built by Moses, as a pattern of heavenly things; and, secondly, to the 'true tabernacle' in heaven, to which the earthly sanctuary pointed. At the death of Christ the typical service ended. The 'true tabernacle' in heaven is the sanctuary of the new covenant. And as the prophecy of Daniel 8:14 is fulfilled in this dispensation, the sanctuary to which it refers must be the sanctuary of the new covenant. At the termination of the 2300 days, in 1844, there had been no sanctuary on earth for many centuries. NOTE --- "The blood of Christ, while it was to release the repentant sinner from the condemnation of the law, was not to cancel the sin; it would stand on record in the sanctuary until the final atonement; so in the type the blood of the sin-offering removed the sin from the penitent, but it rested in the sanctuary until the Day of Atonement. In the great day of final award, the dead are to be 'judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.' Revelation 20:12. Then by virtue of the atoning blood

"As anciently the sins of the people were by faith placed upon the sin offering and through its blood transferred, in figure, to the earthly sanctuary, so in the new covenant the sins of the repentant are by faith placed upon Christ and transferred, in fact, to the heavenly sanctuary. And as the typical cleansing of the earthly was accomplished by the removal of the sins by which it had been polluted, so the actual cleansing of the heavenly is to be accomplished by the removal, or blotting out, of the sins which are there recorded. But before this can be accomplished, there must be an examination of the books of record to determine who, through repentance of sin and faith in Christ, are entitled to the benefits of His atonement. The cleansing of the sanctuary therefore involves a work of investigation – a work of judgment. This work must be performed prior to the coming of Christ to redeem His people; for when He comes, His reward is with Him to give to every man according to his works. The subject of the sanctuary was the key which unlocked the mystery of the disappointment of 1844. It opened to view a complete system of truth, connected and harmonious, showing that God's hand had directed the great Advent Movement, and revealing present duty as it brought to light the position and work of His people... Light from the sanctuary illumined the past, the present, and the future. – The Great Controversy, p.243.
THE INVESTIGATIVE JUDGMENT
"...the time of the dead (came), that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great..." – Revelation 11:18.
"Both the prophecy of Daniel 8:14, 'Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed,' and the first angel's message, 'Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come,' pointed to Christ's ministration in the most holy place, to the investigative judgment..." – The Great Controversy, page 424:1.

Therefore, the Sabbath and Sanctuary truth of the three angels of Rev. 14, beginning in 1844 at the end of the 2300 days of Dan. 8:14. . . .constitute the judgment for the dead . . . . NOTE --- "In consequence of Adam's sin, death passed upon the whole human race. All alike go down into the grave. "That the Bible teaches of a coming judgment no one can deny. We need therefore only give the reason for it .... the judgment takes place among the dead, then among the living. In the judgment the decision is made as to who are worthy of eternal life, and who of eternal death. . . who are to come up in the first resurrection. . . and who in the second; also who are to be translated when Jesus comes. . . and who are to perish at the brightness of His coming . . . . This. . . first aspect of the judgment. . . being only a book work. . . a work that does not disturb either the dead in the graves or the living in the church, it takes place in heaven. The second aspect is not a book work but an actual separation of the dead on the resurrection day, and of the living on the day of purification – the righteous dead are raised, and the unrighteous left in their graves, the righteous living are sealed to live eternally, and the unrighteous left to die. . . THE JUDGMENT OF THE LIVING
"...for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ .... every one of us shall give account of himself to God." – Romans 14:10,12.
"Solemn are the scenes connected with the closing work of the atonement. Momentous are the interests involved therein. The judgment is now passing in the sanctuary above. For many years this work has been in progress. Soon – none know how soon – it will pass to the cases of the living. In the awful presence of God our lives are to come up in review. At this time above all others it behooves every soul to heed the Saviour's admonition: 'watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.' Mark 13:33. 'If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.' Revelation 3:3." – The Great Controversy, page 490:1.

"Important as it is, any who would fail to make a diligent and careful study of the nature and significance of this great work of God's investigating the guests who have come in for the wedding, are simply indifferent to the prospects of eternal life – 'so great salvation.' Unless the close of the judgment for the dead and the commencement for the living be made known to us, we would have no present truth while the judgment for the living is in session. Neither would such judgment be legal or just. "The mighty shaking has commenced and will go on, and all will be shaken out who are not willing to take a bold and unyielding stand for the truth and to sacrifice for God and His cause. The angel said, 'Think ye that any will be compelled to sacrifice? No, no. It must be a freewill offering. It will take all to buy the field.' I cried to God to spare His people, some of whom were fainting and dying. Then I saw that the judgments of the Almighty were speedily coming, and I begged of the angel to speak in his language to the people. These FOUR messages prepare the four angels 'for to slay the third part of men' – all who fail to receive into their lives the saving truth of the gospel as revealed in the FOUR messages. They are, to recapitulate, (1) those who close their ears to the proclamation of the judgment which is revealed 'at an hour'; (2) those who heed not the solemn warning of the day of God's vengeance, which is revealed 'at a day'; (3) those who receive not the latter rain, which comes 'at a month'; and (4) those who do not join 'His redeemed' (the 144,000), who are sealed 'at a year.' "A harvest means the 'result of effort,' 'of toil,' 'the gathering of a crop' – reaping the result of labor and filling up the barns with grain. So rather than the year's toil being finished at the beginning of the harvest, the heaviest labor of the year just then begins. And though harvest time is the shortest of all periods of the harvest year, the work of reaping is not done in a moment; it takes time. The yield is not garnered by turning the field right into the barn; no, that would be a conglomerate mass instead of a harvest. First the sickle (Rev. 14:16) is put to the grain, and next the grain is bound into sheaves, then threshed, after which it is put into the barn; and thereafter the chaff and the tares are destroyed. This work being completed during the autumn (atonement), it shows that the harvest is a season of time after 'the summer is past' and that it is followed by the fruitless winter period." – The Judgment and the Harvest, Tract No. 3, pages 64, 65.
THE BRANCH AND JOSHUA
"Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord." – Zechariah 6:12 last part.
"If the veil which separates the visible from the invisible world could be lifted, and the people of God could behold the great controversy that is going on between Christ and holy angels and Satan and his evil hosts concerning the redemption of man; if they could understand the wonderful work of God for the rescue of souls from the bondage of sin, and the constant exercise of His power for their protection from the malice of the evil one, they would be better prepared to withstand the devices of Satan. Their minds would be solemnized in view of the vast extent and importance of the plan of redemption and the greatness of the work before them as co-laborers with Christ. They would be humbled, yet encouraged, knowing that all Heaven is interested in their salvation." – Testimonies, Vol. 5, page 467:2.

As a priest, Christ is now set down with the Father in His throne. Revelation 3;21. Upon the throne with the eternal, self-existent one is He who 'hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows,' who 'was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin,' that He might be 'able to succor them that are tempted.' "Zechariah's vision of Joshua and the Angel applies with peculiar force to the experience of God's people in the closing up of the great day of atonement." – Testimonies, Vol. 5, page 472:2.
NOTE --- "A most forcible and impressive illustration of the work of Satan and the work of Christ, and the power of our Mediator to vanquish the accuser of His people, is given in the prophecy of Zechariah. In holy vision the prophet beholds Joshua the high priest, 'clothed with filthy garments, ' standing before the Angel of the Lord, entreating the mercy of God in behalf of His people who are in deep affliction. Satan stands at his right hand to resist him . . . . He points to the transgressions of Israel as a reason why that people should not be restored to the favor of God. "Not only is he clothed with a white garment, but he is also crowned with a fair mitre. And what could such a mitre denote other than the authority vested in him as Heaven's appointed ruler? "THE JUDGE AND RULER -- INTERPRETER OF THE LAW 'What can all this mean? – Just this: Joshua is Heaven's appointed judge [interpreter of the law], ruler. He himself is crowned as such. And in response to the Lord's [The Branch's] Own command, Joshua crowns (authorizes) his helpers [on the Executive Council] whom the Lord Himself names. In other words, as members of 'the house of David,' Joshua authorizes them to engage in the work. So, Joshua is responsible to the Lord [The Branch], but his helpers are responsible to Joshua. Here is seen an organization having a Leader [The Branch] and an
under-leader -- the Lord [The Branch] and Joshua.' 1 T.G.r. 8:26:3, (Parenthesis belongs to quotation.) THE BRANCH – THE NEW NAME OF JESUS Let this mind be in you, that the Branch is the Lord, the Leader, and Joshua is Heaven's appointed judge, 'ruler' (King) the 'underleader.' It is easy to see; there is nothing here difficult to understand. Joshua is chosen by Heaven to tell the church and the world about The Branch (the Lord), and to interpret His law." – The Man On The White Horse, page 22. trying to deceive you because he teaches something new; if you never give it a thought that you may be slamming your door against a Truth-bearer (putting the Branch to your nose – Eze. 8:17) who may be bringing to you the Lord's 'eyesalve,' and the 'wedding garment' – if you do all these or any part of them, then you must be as good a Laodicean as you can possibly be, not a Davidian. But if you are aware that your garments are filthy, and your iniquity not blotted out; if you realize that you are to walk in God's ways as He directs through the JOSHUA of today, if you are all for God and not at all for self or for the world, then, of course, you either are, or are beginning to be, a Davidian. If you have not attained to all of these, you should see that you do; and if you already have, then keep advancing in the light, and for certain you shall finally stand on Mt. "Let all who are honest and wish to receive the Truth on Its own merits (regardless from whence it comes); and, likewise, to receive a crown and be in God's everlasting Kingdom of Glory, thoroughly consider the following facts: (1) Since Sister Ellen G. White's work and message was for the world and the church, while the church (SDA) was retreating into Egypt (5T 217), Brother Houteff's work and message of the Shepherd's Rod was, in antitype, to deliver modern Israel (SDA) out of Egypt, as Moses with the rod was sent to lead ancient Israel from Egypt (1 S.R.p.e., p. 6). (2) Neither of these messengers could be the antitypical Joshua who leads the purified church into the kingdom. Remember Joshua of old, chosen of God, followed on after Moses to lead ancient Israel into Canaan. Therefore, Joshua, the type, demands an antitypical Joshua, chosen of God, some time after Mrs. White and V.T. Houteff, to lead modern Israel into the kingdom. He that receives this Present-Truth of Jesus' new name will receive a crown passed on to him by Joshua. Joshua has the knowledge of the 'new name' of Jesus with which to crown or seal the 144,000 first-fruits of Israel (Rev. 7:1-8; 14:1,4) and a great multitude of second fruits from all nations (Rev. 7:9). This is indeed the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Rev. 19:9). It is the Supper at this midnight hour, as it were, to which the Lord calls you. Can you hear His Voice as He pleads with you through His servant, Joshua the High Priest, Judge, and ruler? Please remember though, the Lord cannot name you unless you accept His new name. This is the crowning act of the Gospel of Christ that Joshua wishes to present to you." – The Man On The White Horse, pages 23, 24. (Parentheses belong to quotation.)

THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST
"Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh-uprightly and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart." – Psalms 15:1,2.
"By faith he (the sinner, who has so grievously wronged and offended God) can bring to God the merits of Christ, and the Lord places the obedience of His Son to the sinner's account. At that time the church is asleep and the Lord is calling her to awake .... After she awakes she is to behold something and she is to do something. "When the church, like Jacob, wrestles with the angel of Rev. 18:1 and puts on the robe of Christ's righteousness having her name changed (Isa, 62:2), she will then give the Loud cry to Babylon the Great (Rev. 17), and this is the name wherewith SHE shall be called, The Branch, 'The Lord our righteousness.' THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES
"And ye shall keep it a feast unto the Lord seven days in the year. It shall be a statute FOR EVER in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month." – Leviticus 23:41.
"These statutes were explicitly given to guard the ten commandments. They were not shadowy types to pass away with the death of Christ. They were to be binding upon man in every age as long as time should last." – Review and Herald, May 6, 1875.
NOTE --- "In the seventh month came the Feast of Tabernacles, or of ingathering. This feast acknowledged God's bounty in the products of the orchard, the olive grove, and the vineyard. It was the crowning festal gathering of the year. The land had yielded its increase, the harvests had been gathered into the granaries, the fruits, the oil, and the wine had been stored, the firstfruits had been reserved, and now the people came with their tributes of thanksgiving to God, who had thus richly blessed them. This feast was to be pre-eminently an occasion of rejoicing. It occurred just after the great day of atonement, when the assurance had been given that their iniquity should be remembered no more. At peace with God, they now came before him to acknowledge his goodness, and to praise him for his mercy . . . . the Feast of Tabernacles was commemorative. In memory of their pilgrim life in the wilderness, the people were now to leave their houses, and dwell in booths, or arbors, formed from the green branches 'of goodly trees, branches of palm-trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook.' NOTE --- "'The Feast of Tabernacles was not only commemorative, but typical .... It celebrated the ingathering of the fruits of the earth, and pointed forward to the great day of final ingathering.' . . . a spiritual harvest of first and second fruits. . . climaxed by the antitypical Feast of Tabernacles." – The Judgment and the Harvest, Tract No. 3, pages 81. 82.
"It was prophetic of the time when the great ingathering of God's people shall take place, and 'many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the Kingdom of heaven' (Matt. 8:11)." – S.D.A. Bible Commentary, Vol. 1, page 805.
NOTE --- "In one of the preceding verses we are told that the Lord is to fight against all those who fight against Jerusalem . . . . He is not to use manmade weapons, but a plague .... The plague falls on both man and beast that are found in the tents of the unbelieving .... that God had wrought for their fathers, and his miraculous preservation of them during their journeyings from Egypt, so should we gratefully call to mind the various ways he has devised for bringing us out from the world, and from the darkness of error, into the precious light of his grace and truth." – Patriarchs and Prophets, pages 540, 541.
"God gave direction to the Israelites to assemble before Him at set periods, in the place which He should choose, and observe special days wherein no unnecessary work was to be done, but the time was to be devoted to a consideration of the blessings which He had bestowed upon them. At these special seasons they were to bring gifts, freewill offerings, and thank offerings unto the Lord, according as He had blessed them . . . . And they were commanded not to appear before the Lord empty . . . . The Lord covenanted that if they were faithful in the observance of His requirements, He would bless them in all their increase and in all the work of their hands. God requires NO LESS of His people IN THESE LAST DAYS . . . . Let all who possibly can, attend these yearly gatherings. All should feel that God requires this of them. If they do not avail themselves of the privileges which He has provided that they may become strong in Him and in the power of His grace, they will grow weaker and weaker, and have less and less desire to consecrate all to God. Come, brethren and sisters, to these sacred convocation meetings, to find Jesus. He will come up to the feast. He will be present, and He will do for you that which you most need to have done. Your farms (homes, jobs, businesses etc.) should not be considered of greater value than the higher interests of the soul.
"A strong, clear sense of eternal things, and a heart willing to yield all to Christ, are blessings of more value than all the riches and pleasures and glories of this world." – Testimonies, Vol. 2, pages 573-576.
"In view of this, let us wholeheartedly do God's bidding (keep the feasts) and sincerely act out our faith in His never-failing Word." – Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 20 revised, page 15:3.
Our minds take the level of the things on which our thoughts dwell, and if we think upon earthly things, we shall fail to take the impress of that which is heavenly. We would be greatly benefited by contemplating the mercy, goodness, and love of God; but we sustain great loss by dwelling upon those things which are earthly. – The S.D.A. Bible Commentary, Ellen G. THE CLOSE OF PROBATION
"...They that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut." – Matthew 25:10 last part.
"Those who are living upon the earth when the intercession of Christ shall cease in the sanctuary above are to stand in the sight of a holy God without a mediator. Their robes must be spotless, their characters must be purified from sin by the blood of sprinkling. Through the grace of God and their own diligent efforts, they must be conquerors in the battle with evil. While the investigative judgment is going forward in heaven, while the sins of penitent believers are being removed from the sanctuary, there is to be a special work of purification, of putting away sin, among God's people on earth." – Review and Herald, Jan. 17, 1907. NOTE --- "The time of the judgment is a most solemn period, when the Lord gathers His own from among the tares. Those who have been members of the same family are separated. A MARK is placed upon the righteous." – Testimonies to Ministers, page 234;2.

This is forcibly set forth by the prophet's illustration of the last work under the figure of the men each having a slaughter weapon in his hand. "That part of the investigative judgment of the living, by which is determined who are to have their sins blotted out and. . . be given eternal life, is paralleled on earth by the work of the angel with the 'writer's inkhorn,' who is charged to 'mark' (seal) . . . NOTE --- "The 144, 000 were all sealed and perfectly united. On their foreheads was written, God, New Jerusalem, and a glorious star containing Jesus' new name (Branch). At our happy, holy state the wicked were enraged, and would rush violently up to lay hands on us to thrust us into prison, when we would stretch forth the hand in the name of the Lord (Branch), and they would fall helpless to the ground. NOTE --- "Those who train the mind to seize upon everything which they can use as a peg to hang a doubt upon ... will always find occasion to doubt. They will question and criticize everything that arises in the unfolding of truth, criticize the work and position of others, criticize every branch of the work in which they have not themselves a part. They will feed upon the errors and mistakes and faults of others, 'until,' said the angel, 'the Lord Jesus

"The Lord commissions His messengers, the men with the slaughtering weapons in their hands: 'Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.' Here we see that the church – the Lord's sanctuary – was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God." – Testimonies, Vol. 5, page 211:1, 2.
"The Lord calls to the man in linen (Ezekiel 9:3). Since Jesus calls to the man in linen, it must be that the man in linen is not the Lord Himself (He would not call to Himself), but is symbolical of the message of the Righteousness of Christ – Mark of God. Nothing could mark a person any more distinctly in a world of sin – than a Christlike character. The apostles were marked men on the day of Pentecost. All who are faithful and overcome during the short time of the atonement – probationary time for the church – will receive the mark of God's approval. It was not until after the Lord came to the threshold of the house (church) that He called to the man in linen. So the marking takes place during the investigative judgment to the church and when completed the report is made. (Ezekiel 9:11). Then the slaughter will commence." – J.H. Jezreel Letter, No. 2, page 3.
NOTE --- "The slain of the Lord, in this scripture [Isa. 66:16,17.], are those who profess to be in the faith, who claim sanctification and purification, but who do so on the merits of their own righteousness, – of 'themselves', – not on the merits of Christ's righteousness .... That it was not among the Gentiles, who knew not of the truth of God and of His great power, is clearly shown by the Lord's words: 'I will send those THAT ESCAPE OF THEM unto the nations . . . .' Isa. 66:19. Since these escaped ones (the first fruits, the 144, 000 servants of God – Rev. 7:3) 'shall bring all your brethren' (the second fruits, the great multitude – Rev. 7:9) 'for an offering. . . .out of all nations' '(Isa:66:20, first part), this great ingathering necessarily, therefore, is the closing work of the gospel – the second section of the harvest. And since, furthermore, these escaped ones are to bring all their brethren 'to My holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Lord,' 'in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord' (verse 20, last part), the fact is fully evident that the destruction of the wicked, results in

"And behold,' says Ezekiel, 'the man clothed with linen, which had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter (while on earth], saying, I have done as Thou hart commanded me.' Ezek. 9:11. Here is the first report, made at the completion of the sealing in the church – the sealing of the firstfruits, the 144,000. 'I saw,' says the servant of the Lord, '. . . an angel with a writer's inkhorn by his side returned from the earth, and reported to Jesus that his work was done . . .' -- Early Writings, p. 279. Here is his second report, made at the completion of the sealing in the world – the sealing of the second fruits, the great multitude .... Were probation to close at the time of the first report (Ezek. 9:11), the Lord must. . . be in heaven, then descend to receive His saints, instead of being already on earth, then mounting up in His throne, as He actually does, without His saints (Ezek. 10:19). Again: the prophet's being left behind when the Lord went up, figuratively shows that at this particular descent and ascent, the saints are not to be taken to heaven, but only to be set free from sin and sinners – fitted for the final work. At the angel's second report, however, Jesus, being in heaven, 'moved out of the most holy place' (Early Writings, p. 280) to descend to earth." – Pre-'Eleventh Hour' Extra, Tract No. 1, pages 20-22. "His hand is still stretched out to save (Babylon), while the door is closed to those (Laodicea) who would not enter." – Testimonies, Vol. 9, page 97:2.
NOTE --- "I saw angels hurrying to and fro in heaven. An angel returned from the earth with a writer's inkhorn by his side, and reported to Jesus that his work was done .... Then I saw Jesus, who had been ministering before the ark containing the Ten Commandments, throw down the censer. He raised his hands upward, and with a loud voice, said, It is done. And all the angelic host laid off their crowns as Jesus made the solemn declaration, He that is unjust, let him be unjust still; and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still; and he that is holy, let him be holy still. I saw that every case was then decided for life or death. Jesus had blotted out the sins of His people, He had received His kingdom, and the atonement had been made for the subjects of His kingdom. The marriage of the Lamb was finished. And the kingdom, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven was given to Jesus, and

"As the goat bearing these sins was sent away, they were, with him, regarded as forever separated from the people."
NOTE --- "Important truths concerning the atonement were taught the people by this yearly service. In the sin-offerings presented during the year, a substitute had been accepted in the sinner's stead; but the blood of the victim had not made full atonement for the sin. It had only provided a means by which the sin was transferred to the sanctuary. By the offering of blood, the sinner acknowledged the authority of the law, confessed the guilt of his transgression, and expressed his faith in Him who was to take away the sin of the world; but he was not entirely released from the condemnation of the law. On the day of atonement the high priest, having taken an offering for the congregation, went into the most holy place with the blood, and sprinkled it upon the mercy – seat above the tables of the law. Thus the claims of the law, which demanded the life of the sinner, were satisfied. Then in his character of mediator the priest took the sins upon himself, and leaving the sanctuary, he bore with him the burden of Israel's guilt. At the door of the tabernacle he laid his hands upon the head of the scape-goat, and confessed over him 'all the iniquities of the children of Israel . . . .' And as the goat bearing these sins was sent away, they were with him regarded as forever separated from the people. Such was the service performed 'unto the example and shadow of heavenly things.'" – Patriarchs and Prophets, page 355, 356.
NOTE --- "In like manner, when the work of atonement in the heavenly sanctuary has been completed, then in the presence of God and heavenly
angels and the host of the redeemed the sins of God's people will be placed upon Satan; he will be declared guilty of all the evil which he has caused them to commit. And as the scapegoat was sent away into a land not inhabited, so Satan will be banished to the desolate earth, an uninhabited and dreary wilderness." – The Great Controversy, page 658:1.
"For a thousand years, Satan will wander to and fro in the desolate earth to behold the results of his rebellion against the law of God. During this time his sufferings are intense. Since his fall his life of unceasing activity has banished reflection; but he is now deprived of his power and left to contemplate the part which he has acted since first he rebelled against the government of heaven, and to look forward with trembling and terror to the dreadful future when he must suffer for all the evil that he has done and be punished for the sins that he has caused to be committed." – The Great Controversy, page 660:1.
"(At the end of the thousand years)... fire from God out of heaven is rained upon them (the wicked) .... Satan and his angels suffered long. Satan bore not only the weight and punishment of his own sins, but also of the sins of the redeemed host, which had been placed upon him; and he must also suffer for the ruin of souls which he had caused." – Early Writings, pages 294, 295.
"Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh; and having an High Priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised.)" Heb. 10:19-23.

Thank you for the Branch Sabbath School Lessons we received (Vol. 6, nos. 4-6) just recently by mail. We are delighted with the new format and are especially thrilled with the clear explanations of the wonderful
book of Revelation which has remained a mystery to so many for so long. My aged father and myself count it a great privilege to be able to receive these lessons which are so enlightening in this day of gross darkness. It is evident from these lessons that they are not the ideas of men but Inspiration of God. We trust as time goes on these lessons may improve in every way even as we noticed with this last edition. Keep up the good work, the Lord prosper and bless you all. Not only have we enjoyed the latest edition but also the previous lessons about Pentecost. Greetings to all Brethren and hoping that these few lines reaches you safe as they left us over here. Dear Brother, how do you spend your feast days? I hope fine by God's grace. I do believe we over here, though few in number, have been trying our best to keep up the feast days for we know that it is the truth and must be kept .... this year another Brother, who had been backslidden a few years ago, after we worked with him was convinced and he joined with us in the feast and was so happy that he asked me to send his name and address to you so that he can receive his own tracts .... I have just this night been re-reading some literature I was handed by a young boy, while attending the Kansas camp meeting this summer. The material contained therein seems controversial. I have been curious about it ever since. I am fairly new
in the faith, two years, and I don't quite understand what you are driving at. I would like to correspond with you or one of your assistants on the subject. Please write me. Do you have any literature?

Greetings in our Saviour's Holy Name. Thank you for sending me Branch Sabbath School Lessons and your publication, The Lamb of God. Brother and Sister ______came to visit me... we had a study together. I asked them how to observe the feast days and they told me. I plan to keep the feast days and observe the new moon also. I am thankful to my Saviour... for sending somebody .... We needed to know the truth about the feast days. I am sending you tithes, first and second .... I plan to send my tithes from now on. I am a S.D.A. brother and I received literature from the 1971 campmeeting of Cassopolis, Michigan and I must say I was very impressed with what I read, especially with regards to General Conference moving to Israel. It put pieces together for me. The fourth and fifth angel's messages seem to be the special light I've been looking forward to. Let me just say that I own this small business in ______ and it was brought into being for a special purpose and that is to raise capital for a 'special' something that God has in mind that has to do with finishing the work here on earth... At this time I would like to know what is being done at General Conference toward moving to Israel? What should be done to help in any way? Of course I at first wanted to shout to every member to get ready to move to Israel but then again I was impressed that the Spirit is at work selecting and separating, and the ones to go will know whom they are at the time .... If you have literature on Israel, I would most certainly appreciate your sending it to me as soon as possible Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
